Healthier Choice Fast Foods, Are there any?
Our local Recreation Center wrote in their monthly program guide” 2020 The Year of Self Care. For March “No Fast Food For Thirty Days”
“Instead take the time to make home-cooked meals with your family members. You will enjoy the time together as well as choosing a “Healthier” meal option for you and your loved ones.”
With plant-based foods on a rocket ship, or delivered by drones or driverless vehicles, we identified these “Healthier Choices” on the restaurants menu.
Chefs Mikey & Bev Like it! ™ and we do go to fast food restaurants and enjoy their “Healthier Choices.”
We hired a registered dietician to identify the Healthier Choices at these restaurants.
Arby’s-I recommend the Arby’s Jr Roast beef sandwich as a healthier choice with 210 calories, 6 g fat, 12 g protein, 25 g carbohydrates, 520 mg Na+
I recommend the Garden Salad @ Arby’s as a “side” healthy choice with 70 calories, 5 g fat, 100 mg Na+, 5 g protein and 4 g carbohydrates.
McDonald’s-A healthier choice sandwich @ McDonald’s is a Hamburger @ 250 cal, 9 g fat, 31 g carbohydrates, 510 mg sodium and 12 g protein.
A healthier choice entrée salad @ McDonald’s is the Southwest Grilled Chicken Salad @ 320 calories, 11 g fat, 29 g carbohydrates, 740 mg Sodium and 29 g protein.
Subway-I recommend the Oven Roast Chicken 6” sandwich on wheat, honey oat or whole grain bread providing 320 calories, 5 g fat, 610 mg sodium 46 g carbohydrates, 5 g fiber, 23 g protein as the healthier choice @ Subway.
I recommend the Veggie Delight sandwich on wheat, honey oat or whole grain bread @ Subway as the healthier choice providing 190 calories, 2 g fat, 240 mg Na+, 39 g carbohydrates, 5 g fiber and 9 g protein.
I recommend the “Fresco style” chicken or steak taco as the healthier choice with 150 calories, 6 g fat, 430 mg Na+, 16 g carbohydrates, 9 g protein. “fresco style” is lower in calories and fat.
Wendy’s-I recommend ½ order apple pecan chicken salad as the healthier choice @ Wendy’s with 180 calories, 6 g fat, 490 mg Na+, 14 g carbohydrates and 18 g protein.
Choosing the full order provides more than 50% daily sodium intake needs.
I recommend the plain baked potato as a healthier choice @ Wendy’s with 270 calories, 25 mg Na+, 61 g carbohydrates, 7 g protein, 0 fat.
